A Day in Atlanta

This Fall 52 students from SVAD traveled to Atlanta for a morning at the Atlanta Botanical Garden and an afternoon at the High Museum of Art. Highlights of the Botanical garden included the amazing Fuqua Orchid Center (They have a fascinating blog here), the edible garden, and the Imaginary Worlds exhibit of living sculpture. At the High Museum, Anselm Kiefer’s Dragon (see below) made an impression with its size and texture. The museum’s sculpture collection also was a highlight for many, one student commented on the sculptures from the mid 1800’s saying, “You don’t see a lot of stuff like that anymore…Everyone is so busy no one has time to devote to a sculpture like that.”
